Have you ever read the Beatitudes in Matthew 5 and wondered what they mean and how they fit together? I am studying the whole book of Matthew and read this portion several times. I asked the Holy Spirit to show me something new and move my heart to align with Jesus. I share some of those gleanings in this video.
This is my first venture into video publishing! I realize that I am speaking softly, so please turn up your volume so you can hear. (My husband was in the next room so I felt a little shy when I recorded this. LOL!)
Let me know what you learn from these words and from the Holy Spirit!
Thanks for watching!
I created a written summary of the points in this video. If you would like a copy of it emailed to you, please contact me.

I remember Robert Schuller teaching the Sermon on the Mount as the Be Happy Attitudes. If you change blessed to happy you see that each one of these results in a blessed or happy attitude . God doesn’t leave you poor in spirit He fills you with His Spirit! In fact just like those who assume they are righteous-they don’t know they are really poor in the righteousness or goodness of God. Those who mourn will not remain in mourning knowing the comfort and joy of God! Those who try to cut themselves from their emotions-will not be comforted for they are hiding. Everyone has deep pain inside apart from the healing comfort of Christ!

Hi John!
Thanks so much for reading and commenting. Isn’t it wonderful that we are filled with the Holy Spirit! I see that all the attributes listed in the Beatitudes are characteristics of Jesus which He imparts to us.
I like your comments about those who try to hide their pain and need. That seems to be grounded in pride and desire for self-sufficiency, both of which are contrary to being poor in spirit. Further, hiding seems to be living a lie that we have it all together.
It is really hard to maintain that stance without having the stress of it leak out in various ways, would you agree? It is so much better to open our hands and hearts and trust Jesus and let HIm do the heavy lifting for us.
Have a blessed day with eyes on the Lord!
